About the Mt. Washington Valley Woodshed Company
Welcome, and thank you for visiting The Mt. Washington Valley Woodshed Company.
At first glance, you may think we are simply in the business of building premium custom woodsheds. While we take tremendous pride in constructing beautiful, durable structures made to withstand New England winters, this company was founded for a greater purpose:
To build a community that honors, remembers, and supports the veterans who have sacrificed so much in service to our nation.
Service has been woven into my family’s story for more than a century.
My great-uncle, John Connolly, gave his life in France on October 23, 1918, just weeks before the end of World War I. His sacrifice—and that of the Doughboys from Lowell’s historic Acre neighborhood—is remembered through Connolly Square, dedicated to the Doughboys from the Acre section of Lowell that gave their ultimate sacrifice to our great nation.
That tradition of service continued through each generation that followed. Members of my family served in the Army and Navy during World War II. My uncle was an officer in the United States Navy Medical Corps. My father proudly served as a United States Marine, and years later, I had the privilege of following in his footsteps as a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
Like many veterans, I believe service does not end when we leave the military.
For me, this company is another opportunity to serve.
Not by wearing the uniform again, but by bringing together neighbors, customers, local businesses, community organizations, and volunteers to help ensure that those who once protected us never face a New England winter alone.
Living in the Mount Washington Valley reminds us that warmth is not a luxury. It is a necessity. Yet too many veterans throughout New Hampshire and western Maine struggle with the rising costs of heating oil, propane, electricity, firewood, and emergency heating-system repairs.
Through The Honor Through Warmth Initiative, we hope to ease that burden wherever we can.
Every woodshed we build represents something greater than craftsmanship. It represents gratitude put into action. Every customer who chooses our company becomes a partner in helping us provide meaningful support to veterans through firewood deliveries, heating fuel, utility assistance, and critical heating-system repairs.
I believe a successful business has both the opportunity and the responsibility to strengthen the community it serves.
That is why The Mt. Washington Valley Woodshed Company proudly commits a minimum of 10% of its annual net profits to local veteran-support organizations.
It is also why 100% of charitable donations designated for The Honor Through Warmth Initiative go directly toward assistance for veterans and their families.
My hope is that our company becomes known not only for exceptional craftsmanship, but also for the strength of its character.
If, years from now, someone says, “That’s the company that builds beautiful woodsheds and quietly takes care of our veterans,” I will know we accomplished exactly what we set out to do.
Together, we are building more than woodsheds. We are building a community where gratitude is demonstrated through action, where customers become partners in service, and where no veteran should ever face a New England winter alone.
Thank you for believing in our mission.
Thank you for supporting your local community.
And above all, thank you to every veteran and military family who has faithfully served our nation.
Your service will never be forgotten.
Semper Fidelis,
Barry Connolly
